Data sources

Every figure on Daycare Hub comes from a public record. We copy the facts as the source publishes them and link to the source.

Texas licenses and inspections

Provider names, addresses, license numbers, permit status, capacity, ages, hours and inspection results come from the open data of Texas Health and Human Services, Child Care Regulation. We use three files: the daycare and residential operations data, the inspection and investigation data, and the non-compliance data.

Records were retrieved October 2026. Inspection counts cover the two years from October 2024. License status can change, so check the state's child care search before you enroll.

Inspection and deficiency summaries are quoted from the state's published records with their dates. A deficiency is not a finding of harm; read the full report at the state link.

Texas Rising Star and scholarships

Texas Rising Star levels and the scholarship flag come from the Texas Workforce Commission's child care services data for June 2024. Read more about Texas Rising Star and Child Care Services scholarships.

Subsidy rules are the state's; eligibility depends on income, family size and activity. Apply through the state link; we do not process applications.

Daycare prices

County prices are from the U.S. Department of Labor's National Database of Childcare Prices. We use the latest year it publishes, 2022. Each price is the median weekly price of full-time care, by the child's age and by center or home. We show it as published. A month is a week times 52, divided by 12. We do not adjust for inflation.

Prices shown as "county median" are from the U.S. Department of Labor National Database of Childcare Prices (latest year available, 2022), with no adjustment. No provider has supplied its own prices yet.

Head Start centers

Head Start and Early Head Start centers come from the service location data on headstart.gov.

Tax rules

The dependent care account limit and the child care credit come from the IRS.

How often we refresh

Texas licensing records are refreshed every month. The scholarship list is refreshed each quarter. Prices and tax rules are refreshed once a year, when the source publishes a new year. Today the site holds 12,933 Texas providers.
